Here it is, the 2018 IVCC Crack Crab Auction item! A beautiful hand knit lace shawl! I am so in love with this shawl. I love the colors, I love the tassels, I love how the wool feels. It was the first time working with Miss Babs yarn, and I'm so happy I choose this one. Here's a link to the yarn I used. bit.ly/2E0a8Ws. Keira is a heavy fingering weight yarn that works up into a dense, plush fabric with superb stitch definition and very little halo. And after reading thru their "About Us" section, I totally want to work there! "Miss Babs Hand-Dyed Yarns and Fibers is a woman-owned business, employing a like-minded group of people who are hard-working and often hard-talking. We like loud music, telling our stories and the truth, supporting each other, sharing tears and laughter, all the while getting a good day's worth of work done. We join together to get things done, and are proud of our accomplishments. A number of us are the primary or only breadwinners in our households. For the rest of us it is an important component of the family income. We do not take the success of this business lightly." See, how don't you want to work there too! A couple of weeks ago I stopped in at Dharma Trading Company (www.dharmatrading.com/) and picked out three skeins of yarn to use for tassels. Why three? Well, I couldn't make up my mind on which color I wanted so I bought them all! I wasn't originally planning on making gold tassels. I wanted turquoise, because I just love turquoise. It seems to go with everything! But while I was at the store I couldn't find the right shade of turquoise. So I selected a light blue. Then I found purple yarn. Yes, that's right purple. I was just about to check out, but decided to make one last go round and found gold. "It's perfect!" I said to no one around me. And I'm happy I did because I completely love it! The beautiful Mackenzie Brown will model the shawl for me. Be sure to pick up your tickets for the auction! You can find tickets at several businesses in town, or by calling (530) 284-6633. Or contact the Chamber thru their website (bit.ly/2ny0UGN).
