Oh how I love rust. The decrepitness, the history, the colors. And they are the perfect inspiration for me! Whenever I get stuck on color combinations, when I can’t seem to put anything together that has that WOW effect, I spend some time looking a photos of rust. I love watching the streaks of red running thru the colors. I love wondering what the actual item used to look like when it was in its “prime.” It was photos of Magnolia Pearl’s Ranch that I first turned me on to how beautiful rust could look like. It was her book, “Country Living, A Bit of Velvet & a Dash of Lace: The Fabulous Interiors of Magnolia Pearl” (http://amzn.to/2hrIUt9) that made me fall in love with rust. She says the house was built to look like it had been around for years. They sought out beautiful rusty ceiling tins to give the house the lived in look. You can read more about her house here: http://www.messynessychic.com/2013/04/02/worlds-most-shabby-chic-home-up-for-sale/ After browsing thru Pinterest, pinning beautiful photos of rust, it always takes a few weeks before the color combinations start to flow thru the knitting needles. So if you even need some inspiration, spend a few moments, or like me an hour, flipping thru photos of rust. I’m positive you’ll be able to find the perfect color combination for whatever project you are working on!
