Its so much fun hanging out with people who love fiber arts as much as I do! And it's so much fun watching someone learn to knit and really get it!! This past Saturday was our second Stitching Together event held at Sacred Space in downtown Greenville. I'm never sure who will arrive but this past Saturday we had a lively group!! Lyle is a sock knitter who lives in Quincy. Kathy is getting back into knitting after a hiatus and she hasn't skipped a beat, picking up and knitting like no time has passed. Both Merri and her sister Jodi have been knitting for a while. And Cookie is a new knitter, but you couldn't tell. She picked up the needles like she knew what she was doing! So we've decided we were going to jump right in with a knit-along. I think Wheat" by Tin Can knits is the perfect project to start with. You learn the basics, cast in, Knit, purl and cast off. See, the perfect pattern and it creates a great scarf! Here is a link to the pattern: http://tincanknits.com/pattern-SC-wheat.html We started off by walking thru the pattern, and the materials you will need.
"Where can I buy yarn?" Cookie asked. "I tried the pharmacy and the second hand store but couldn't find anything." "Oh you can get yarn at the gas station!" Said Merri. Thats life in a small town! Jessica Pappenhousen has an arts and crafts store at the gas station her husband owns. Apparently she carries not only beading and jewelry supplies but yarn as well! We we will be at Sacred Space next Saturday 10:00 - 11:30. Stop by the gas station and pick up your supplies and come join us!
