It was epic, it was long, it was fantastic! This past weekend we celebrated the Nephew's 7th birthday. 7 years old...its hard to believe! And what else do boys want to do on their birthday...have the most incredible Nerf war ever!!! When we arrived, my sister had her house completely decorated in all things Star Wars, water bottles, masks, banners, everything had a Star Wars symbol on it!! Our first stop was the outside dining room. That's where the "arsenal" was located. You had to pick out a nerf gun, grab a bag that was hanging on the wall and fill it up with "bullets," grab some eye protection and head outside. But by the time "Uncle Mugga" and I arrived, there was only one Nerf gun left. So I graciously forfeited my turn to my Faithful Sherpa. "He'll love it...go on...have a great time and don't forget to wear your glasses!" I said as I ran towards safety! My sister and Faithful Sherpa, geared up and ready. You'd better watch your back! "Ok, I have an announcement" the Nephew would say inside the living room. "Everyone who is ready, come outside, gear up and lets go!!!" Can you tell he was excited. Like...SUPER excited! And boy were they ready. The "kids" ran outside, the adults laid down some rules, and then the war was on! Yup, here's all the "kids," outside having the most amazing Nerf war ever! After hours...really...hours of playing outside they finally came in for lunch. Cupcakes first! My sister found bakery pens, that you can use to safely draw on sheets of sugar, or marshmallows! Fantastic isn't it! And then it was time for the cake. "Make a wish and blow our your candles." After spending another hour outside resuming the epic Nerf-e-gedon, we came back inside to open gifts. I'm so happy that he liked his hats. It's a little big though, but that's because his mom stole both of his hats. "Look...they fit me too" she shouted as she modeled one of the Nephews hat. "Hey, wait a minute..." But the Nephew is good at sharing. See, he shared his hat with his "sister cousin!" And he even shares his brand new toys with his Uncle! Such a sweet boy.
I was tired by the time we got home. I went to bed at 8:30. Really...8:30! I'm going to blame it on the fact that I'm still recuperating from this cold. Yup, that's what I'm going to say, it was the cold's fault that I went to bed so early. Not that I'm too old to run around a yard chasing the Nephew, my Faithful Sherpa, sisters and brother-in-law, during the most incredible four hour Nerf-e-gedon ever. No, it was the cold.
