"You have to drive in the snow at some point," my Faithful Sherpa said. "But I'll go with you to your Doctors appointment." A few days before our vacation I had a little surgery on my right wrist. Nothing major, just a few stitches. "In 10 days you'll need to have the stitches removed. Do they have a clinic where you are going that can remove them?" I had driven by the clinic once so at least I knew where I was going. I made an appointment for 11:30 thinking it'll give me enough time so sleep in and be presentable when we go out. It's a serious thing, you know, sleeping in while in vacation! My Faithful Sherpa and I had several stops to make after my appointment. The Post Office, the hardware store, the gas station, the grocery store. A busy afternoon! Hunters Hardware has been in town forever. It belonged to Johns father before him. John told us that before the building was a hardware store, it was two separate stores, a hardware store on one side and grocery store on the other. It was cold inside the hardware store. So cold you can see your breath when you spoke. But I stayed toasty warm right here, in front of the old heater. It's the spot everyone stands when they enter, or the spot you can find John when he's not helping customers! After spending too much money at the grocery store purchasing a lot of impulse items, we headed back up our hill to the warm fireplace, my leather overstuffed chair and the view out my new window. I love sitting here and dreaming of what to create next. I absolutely love watching the snow. The slow airy speed of the flakes gently floating down, the absence of sound, the beauty of white that surrounds you. I could sit and watch the snow fall all day! I'm almost done with my new vest. Just a few more rows until I bind off! I can't wait to show you the final project! And the inspiration? Coffee. Yup coffee. Don't worry, I'll tell you the whole story soon.
In the meantime, spend a few moments watching the world outside your window. It's amazing what's happening out there!
