At first the project looked daunting, cables everywhere and a shawl collar. But don’t worry, you can do it. I can’t tell you how many of these sweaters I’ve knitted, really! But in the beginning, the pattern scared me. So, when I get confused or intimidated about a new pattern, I break it down. If I’ve read a pattern numerous times, but still can’t envision the final product, I just knit the pattern row by row. Literally. If the pattern reads K3, p2, k4 I look at the pattern, then knit 3 I look at the pattern, then purl 2 I look at the pattern, then knit 4 Look at the pattern. . .you get the idea. Row by row slows you down a bit, but makes it so much easier and builds your confidence in working thru the project! But the shawl collar . . .well. . .after all these years, I still haven’t quite figured out how that works. It’s magic! The other tip I can give you is keep track of your rows! I usually make myself tick boxes, and mark off each row I’ve knit. It makes it so much easier when you are watching TV. I hope you enjoy this free pattern from Lion Brand Yarn!
