You never know what you'll find out there on the road. But I found the perfect "weird stuff" to knit with! We stayed with Galen and Susan. It's been only 2 years since they moved away but it seemed like forever. It's so nice to catch up with old friends. We had Hot Pot when we arrived that evening. And for breakfast, a traditional American breakfast. Although Galen did eat his bacon using chop sticks! So in the morning we headed off for a new day of searching for handspun yarn. I checked www.knitmap.com/ and discovered Pendleton Woolen Mills sells yarn. Yes yarn! After winding our way thru the city we finally arrived at the store. Oh what a beautiful store! And look at these beautiful bolts of wool. Oh my goodness I was in heaven. I kept wandering the rows and rows of wool each in my favorite colors. But where was the yarn? I finally found them in the back of the old carding warehouse. A small section of roving, bulky weight and fingerling wool. But it didn't spark my interest. Don't get me wrong the wool is incredible! All hand spun from American sheep and hand dyed. But I wasn't excited. And then I found this. Scraps, really but it's perfect to knit with. And that's when the designs started flooding thru my mind. They sell it by the pound. The hardest part was untangling the bundles of selvedge edges. We bought 10 pounds of selvedge edge wool from two varieties of blankets. Now I can't wait to start knitting! After loading our bags into the back of the truck we headed back onto the highway. This time I'm searching for handspun yarn and weird stuff!
