It's time for Five on Friday - This Week in Review. Ooohh, how exciting! Five on Friday 1. I don't mind walking in the rain. As long as I have my "rain" hat (one of my cowboy hats), and my foul weather gear, it's really not too bad walking in the rain. The hardest part is carrying my purse. Such a girlie thing to say! 2. I can live on bread and cheese alone It's really because of my dad. It was our Saturday midday meal, fresh baguette from Bordenave Bakery in San Rafael bordenavesbakery.com/, butter and salami! It's always been my go to comfort food, but now it's a nice baguette and some stinky cheese. But of course, my Faithful Sherpa can't stand stinky cheese. But he puts up with me. 3. I haven't been knitting this week Oh that was a hard confession, because typically I'm always knitting. I have the same hat on my needles from last week! Hats typically only take me 2 hours to knit. But in my defense, I've been weaving in the ends of 10 infinity Scarves and 6 hats. 4. I love found art! I get so excited when I come across found art. It's so inspiring to me! 5. So far I haven't lost anything! Dang it! Because of my health related issues, I've ended up with a concussion. (It's a long story) But because I have a concussion, and the circumstances around it I'm not able to drive. My Faithful Sherpa has been so wonderful taking me to my doctors appointments, and then to Nordstrom to buy tights and mascara. I've been walking everywhere, but darn it, I've stepped on the scale, and I haven't lost an ounce! I guess I'll have to lay off the french bread and cheese. A Week in Review The Kindness of Strangers Last Saturday we drove to Chester, CA and met Jodi and Rick. They own Rusty Chandelier, www.facebook.com/rustychandelier96020/. A couple of months ago I dropped off an old dresser and asked Jodi if she could paint it the same gray as the dresser I purchased from her. Jodi did an amazing job! I just love it. So we (well, Jodi and My Faithful Sherpa) loaded the dresser into the back of his truck and we drove back to my new office in Greenville. My Faithful Sherpa pulled the dresser halfway out of the back of his truck, and the he stood there holding the dresser, while I started unloading the drawers, bringing them into the office. Then a really nice couple walked by. "Do you need some help?" "No, it's ok." but it was such a nice offer. "Sure, we'd love your help.." So the girlfriend (or wife, I'm not sure) helped me bring the drawers in, while the boyfriend (or husband) helped my Faithful Sherpa carry the dresser into the office. I just love the generosity of my new town! Good, kind strangers, we thank you! My New Chicken Bench One morning, while riding my bike to work, I rode past North Bay Boatworks, I stopped so quickly that I almost fell off my bike, and left a giant skid mark in the dirt! I turned around to find this super fantastic chicken bench. Isn't it the best thing you've seen ever! That night, we had to run errands (well I wanted to buy mascara and tights at Nordstroms) so my Faithful Sherpa picked me up after work. We loaded my bike into the back of his truck and started off. Wait!!!! You have to go see the chicken bench!!! What? Yes, please drive down to Holden and Anton's shop and see it. That, you like that? What are you going to do with that! I don't know, but I love it! I wonder what they are going to do with it, it's just sitting there in the rain rotting away! I wonder if they'd sell it to me! That, you want to buy that?!? Two days later, I walked past their shop and Holden and Anton walked out their front door on their way to Spauldings Marine Center www.spauldingcenter.org/ to teach a class in building boats. So I ran over to them, literally ran over and said, Hey, tell me about your chicken bench. It used to belong to a friend Holden's who originally bought it in Thailand. It's actually a hand carved miniature dug out canoe, that someone put a turquoise seat on it. What are you planning on doing with it? Why do you like it? You can have it, for free! I hugged Holden like four times. Anton kept laughing at me. So I ran to my Faithful Sherpa's shop (which is across the street from my office) and excitedly told him about the bench. Really, the chicken bench! Yes, he gave me the chicken bench. . .for free!!! Can we go and pick it up Not now, I have to work. We'll do it later. At the end of the day I called my Faithful Sherpa. Can we get it now? No, I have to work late. So, stubborn me, I didn't want to wait under "later." So I walked back to my trailer, picked up my blue cart, then walked back to their shop, strapped the chicken bench to the top of my blue cart, and then walked over to my office where it's now sitting, and drying out in front of my desk. I can't wait to show you what it looks like in my desk in new office, in Greenville! My Faithful Sherpa is a Rock God! A blowup guitar rock god! One morning, while walking to work, I noticed this blue, plastic, blowup guitar floating in the water. So I snapped a photo and posted it on my Facebook page "Rock on Fishies, Rock on" I wrote.
Then when we came home that night, someone (I have no idea who) fished the floating blue, plastic, blowup guitar out of the water and placed it in the cockpit of our boat. So that night, I was treated to the best Air Guitar Concert ever! Rock on, my Faithful Sherpa, Rock on!
