What do you do when you loose your inspiration? What happens when you simply can not put together colors or decide on what weight yarn to use? Me, I just turn to Mother Nature and Mizzie! That's my kitchen windowsill holding all sorts of goodies. But it wasn't the new felted bag that brought me inspiration. It wasn't the mermaid bottle opener, nor is it the orange wall outside my kitchen window. It's the lichen at the base of the oak tree that I find so fascinating. Look at those colors, bright greens against the beautiful gray of the tree trunk. But now what! When I've lost my design inspiration, when I can't figure out what to knit, I have the perfect designer to turn to... Mizzie Morawez! mizziemorawez.blogspot.com/ Go on, you'll see, follow the link and check out her work. I love her creativity, the freeness of her work, the ability to take string, stick it together oddly, and create the most beautiful piece of art! And most importantly, I love her attitude! Her work is not just something thrown together, although one can interpret it that way. It's a brilliant way of putting together colors, shapes, and textures. When I need to find my creativity, I'll sit and study her photos, noticing how she connects her crochet pieces together, how she includes both knitting and crocheting into one piece, the color combinations, and shapes. And you can't help but notice the way she wears her pieces. What looks like giant holes, are strategically placed embellishments, a place for your eye to rest on the solid colors beneath her knitwear. And the more I study her work, the more I want to create! I want to be free with my knitting, free to knit in any direction, with any color combination, and include any type of yarn and every yarn weight there is.
Her work revs me up and makes me want to run the mile back to home, dig into my stash, and start knitting something new, and exciting!
