This was the result of not paying attention! Well, that and a few glasses of wine! If I had only known how to read my stitches!
Two years ago, for our 25th anniversary, my Faithful Sherpa and I took a drive in our 1954 Chevy pickup to Unionville, NV and stayed at the Old Pioneer Garden B&B Guest House. (www.oldpioneergarden.com/). This is an incredibly beautiful place to stay! Just look at these lush green gardens! Who would believe this is the Nevada desert in July!
As always, I brought along a knitting project, my anniversary shawl. It's a relatively easy eyelet stitch, triangular shawl. The repeats seemed easy enough to me!
When we arrived, my wonderful Faithful Sherpa and I shared beers and snacks. Then for dinner we have a delicious steak with a yummy bottle of wine!
After dinner, we plugged in a VHS tape (it's all they had) and watched a movie. I happily knitting along on my anniversary shawl, sipping a luscious glass of red wine!
In the morning, I picked up my knitting again, but something didn't quite feel right. So I counted my stitches. On one side of my center markers I had 55 stitches, on the other side I had 35 stitches!
If only I had paid attention to the project and read my stitches, before I had drinks that day, then I wouldn't have had to rip everything back! Lessons learned, right!
Don't let this happen to you! Come learn how to read your knitting!
