Big things are happening!

Change is good, right? Well then we are in for something wonderful! Because huge changes are happening in the next two months!
We are moving to dry land!
Yup, after living onboard our sailboat, Whisper, for 21 years, we are moving to our home in Greenville, California located in Plumas County. We are beyond excited about the move but a little freaked out!

Questions keep randomly keep popping in my head. . .

What's it going to be like living in a house?
How will I tell what the weather is like outside?
Wait, it's warm and dry in here, . .
Why have we decided to move into our home in winter!
What if we don't make it here.
I'm sure everything will be ok, and work itself out, but you never know. Change is hard, change is scary but change is good. And besides, we were getting a little too comfortable with our life onboard Whisper. We needed a shakeup!

One thing I am super excited about is my new office. I'll still be working "the other job," and I know myself all too well. . .I know I'm not a good candidate to be a home office staff member. I get so easily distracted by laundry, the wildlife, the garden, ooh look at that pretty shinny thing over there. . .

So I've rented my own office in town.

.I'll be sharing my office space with two good friends Margaret Garcia who has the back office, (throwingchanclas.com/) and Jane Braxton Little who has the office upstairs  (www.janebraxtonlittle.com/). Both are wonderful writers, unlike me. But they do say that if you play pool with a better pool player, you'll become a better player yourself. I'm hoping the same is for writing!

This past weekend my Faithful Sherpa and I got down to work on the new office. A  fresh coat of paint always makes everything feel so much better! Earlier this year my mom had her kitchen, family room and living room painted with Benjamin Moore's Antique White. It was a color that my dad always used in his homes. "Honey I have some paint left over, do you want it?"

So we painted my entire office Antique White. And I love it! It's so clean, and not too bright.

We've been thinking about moving for about a year now. And once we agreed that I would rent an office, I started dreaming about what I wanted my office to look like. Clean, bright, filled with antiques.

So each time I stopped by a second hand store, or an antique store, I would search for for items. I found the green couch on Craigslist, the two chairs at a The Marin Consignment Store, the turquoise file cabinet at a garage sale, my friend Janay aka The Window Lady www.thewindowladyclothing.com/ had the small wood 1940's child's desk, the coffee table used to belong to my friend Josh's Aunt Fern, the "fireplace" was a another Craigslist score, and the big beautiful grey dresser, I found that at The Rusty Chandelier, in Chester, CA

And, much to my Faithful Sherpa's disappointment, I've stored all the furniture in our living room.

He was so happy when, on Sunday morning, we loaded everything onto Dan's flatbed trailer and brought it down to the office!
I still have shelves to build, another dresser to pick up from the Rusty Chandelier, a desk to build, I need to bring up the two drawer filecabinet, and curtains hang, but I'm loving the progress so far.

So, my friends, starting in January 2018, I'll be hosting Thursday night Stitching Together  from my office, 4:30 - 7:00 pm. And in the future, I'll be hosting workshops on a variety of topics!

We are so excited to be taking this next step in our lives, albeit, a little scared. But with your help and encouragement, we can make it thru anything!

So thrilled for you! You will do fine there, and you can even walk to work if you don’t want to drive on a snowy day! I am working up an Indigo and Madder workshop, which I will do in my “high country” location in June, but also cone over to do at your place. Change is expansive!
